Ghostface Killah & Raekwon

Raekwon and Ghostface were Wu-Gambinos channeling Scorsese through their warped Staten Island vocabulary and intricate, existential narratives. The Wu-Tang's disciples remain, commingling with new fans who become similarly obsessed. Even though the music isn't of their generation, it retains the mystery and mythology endemic to most timeless art. Asking why the Wu-Tang still endures in the Hip Hop pantheon is like asking why people still read The Odyssey or watch Citizen Kane or listen to The Beatles. They are all self-contained worlds, classical archetypes set in motion, embodying the flaws and virtues that haunt us all; wisdom and hubris, ego and avarice. They exist above any cheap binary. Cash ruled everything around them, but the group understood that you couldn't party your life away. They were mortals who wore the masks of the gods. Which is only the beginning of explaining why Wu-Tang is forever.
