Outkast

To begin to understand the alchemy of Outkast the dynamic duo that's consistently made amazing music for more than ten years, both as a group and as solo artists, while never publicly disrespecting their relationship it's imperative to think first about brotherhood. Self-proclaimed "brothers from another mother," Andre and Big Boi have a long, shared history, two man-children from Georgia with they chins up and a point to prove the South wasn't about watermelons and dirt roads. They wanted to show the wisdom that comes with being raised on red clay. There was music and genius on their tongues. Experiencing Outkast for the first time was thrilling, especially if you were from the South. In song, cadence, and lyric, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik was a celebration from the Southern culture that was, at turns, pimp and `lac loving their logo was in the shape of a Cadillac hood ornament, as well as conscious and contemplative.

The Emcees could rhyme, and the beats were strong creeping, layered fiddle, horn, and 808s, and fonky. Remember now, this was the South: people drove an beats were made for blasting out of cars. Helmed by three-man Atlanta production team Organized Noize, the album was created in an unfinished basement lovingly called the Dungeon.
