Tom Moulton, who invents the remix when he breaks Don Downing's cult 1975 single "Dream World" down to its basics, reconstructing the track to give it an extended percussive intro. This stylistic overhaul makes him the go-to guy for labels that want to give their singles the disco touch, and he remains one of the most revered remixers in dance music. Moulton's studio wizardry leads him to create the 12" single which becomes a core vessel of Hip Hop to showcase his handiwork, because the standard 7" variety doesn't do justice to his sonic re-creations.
