Wantmore N8 goes into detail about musical inspirations and plans for upcoming music

When Wantmore N8 was growing up, he was an avid reader and was a sponge for absorbing information. In an interview with Remixd Magazine, Wantmore N8 (who goes by N8), said that he raised himself on a steady diet of classic American novels and an occasional Cam'ron tape. According to him, his teachers instilled in him the importance of the idea that every great writer must be a great reader too. He goes by the motto that in order to create something of substance, one must learn from the greats -- and that's exactly what he's doing currently in his music career with some of his musical inspirations.

N8 is an underground artist born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area city of Richmond. His spoken word-like flow, unique subject matter, and beat selection makes him stand out -- especially coming from an area with a popularized sound.

Inspired by artists from both coasts and down south, he has a well-rounded ear and palate for music. In one verse he raps “Check my style I grew up on Mac Dre and Cameron Giles (Cam’ron)” giving an ode to this wide range of inspiration. His latest two EPs in the recent years, TheNigTape and Capricorn Son, displays some of his inspirations and are available now on streaming sites. His upcoming project is slated to release in the late first quarter of 2021 is described as a blend of the previous two. TheNigTape was all the way left, Capricorn Son was all the way right, this next project blends both and captures my style and personality perfectly,” he says when asked about the project. What is your artist name? What is your real name? How did you get

your artist name?

N8: My artist name is WantmoreN8 and my real name is Nate. N8 is just another

way to say Nate. I added the Wantmore because my company is called Real Chill

Want More and I wanted to differentiate myself from other N8’s on the streaming

sites. What city are you from/Where are you based now?

N8: NI’m from Richmond, CA and I’m currently based in the Bay Area. At what point in your life did you decide to pursue a career in

music?

N8: To be honest I still haven't decided to pursue a career in music. It's something that I love to do and any profits made are just the icing on the cake. Has your upbringing played a role in shaping who you are and defining your

sound today? If so, how?

N8: My upbringing has everything to do with who I am and how my music sounds. My

experiences give me content to rap about and shape the way I view and interpret what’s

happening in the world around me. How would you describe your sound to readers who may not be familiar

with you?

N8: I would describe my sound as a poetic conversation over smooth to uptempo

instrumentals. My cadence is sometimes compared to spoken word and I approach

verses as if I’m talking to the listener. What ultimately inspired you to dedicate yourself to a music career?

N8: Music is my passion, I’m a fan first, it’s something I’d be doing and listening to

regardless to anything else that’s going on. What’s one reason you are passionate about music and what inspires

you? N8: I love how versatile music is, how it can inspire you, motivate you, make you

happy, make you sad, even teach you. I’m inspired by everyday life, my experiences,

the experiences of people around me, and even things going on 1,000 miles away. Do you have hobbies outside of music? What do you do to stay creative?

N8: I have a lot of hobbies, I like working out, traveling, cooking, watching UFC fights,

reading, hiking, documentaries, art, I’m open to a lot. As long as I’m going

outside and experiencing life I’ll always be inspired. Who are some of your main musical influences?

N8: My top 5 rappers are Cam’ron, Mac Dre, The Jacka, Jay-Z, and Boosie. What are some of your music career goals for the future?

N8: I plan to continue dropping music, doing shows, learning the business and what

gets the wheels turning behind the scenes. Tell us about the project that you are promoting. What is it about? is it a

single or EP? Also, what is the name of the last project you released?

N8: The last project I released was called "A Soft Nickel” it was a short 5 song EP

executively produced by a producer from Richmond named Twonie Bo. What has been the response been like to that project?

N8: The project got a good response I actually just released a video to one of the

crowd favorites on the tape called “Candlelit Conversations.” What are some projects you’ve done in the past that you are most proud of

and why?

N8: The two projects I’m most proud of are “The NigTape” and “Capricorn Son”

because they show both sides of style. “The NigTape” is more street, Bay Area beats

and a style I named “caption rap” which is catchy, witty lines that make good IG captions.

“Capricorn Son” is more mellow, lyric driven, inspirational verses on smooth samples. If

you blend both of these EPs together you get me as an artist and person.

What’s next for you? Are you working on any upcoming projects we

should be on the lookout for? Include some dates if you have them. N8: I have an EP solely produced by Drew Banga that I'm excited to release! I

don’t have a name yet but I’m aiming for a late 1st quarter release. What message do you hope fans take away from your music?

N8: My music lets fans know that it's ok to be yourself and it’s ok to be multi-layered.
